The Inventory

THE INVENTORY

2011: COMING SOON!

Over the course of twenty-eight days, I photographed all of my personal belongings. A total of 3,122 photographs documented every eraser, every sock, every mask that I own. Everything.

A true test of endurance, reflection, and obsession.

All of my material possessions are now available for viewing on The Inventory.

The Archives

THE ARCHIVES

2010

Ink to Ashes.
In remembrance of work created between 2001-2006

Paper and canvas were set ablaze in a bonfire held on my birthday, December 23, 2010.

It was quite freeing, standing there on my birthday, watching over fifty pounds of paper burn down to a gallon of ashes.  Now all of my archives fit into an urn, which I can bring along with me as I reminder of where I came from.

Dress Up Wednesdays

DRESS UP WEDNESDAYS

2009-2010

For three years, I worked full time at the front desk of the University of Wisconsin Art Department administrative offices. As I sat in my office chair, I began to question whether creativity must be separate from business.  I wanted to acknowledge my secretarial position and its history while simultaneously charging it with my own artistic vision.  To do so, I fully embraced office life and began calling myself "The Secretary". I purchased a troll collection, fake cigarettes, non-prescription glasses, and a closet full of vintage secretary blouses, tights, heels, and pencil skirts.  People were intrigued by my representation of “The Secretary”, but I realized I needed to take it to the next level.

So for the first day of the new school year, I transformed into a Beatnik, the quintessential image of the bohemian.  No longer would I be just a secretary; I would be an artist.  The reaction was overwhelming.  It fueled such great conversations that I decided to dress as a different character each week. "Dress Up Wednesdays" were born.
